Litter Prevention &
Cleanup
- Under the 2008 Great
American Cleanup, over 900 volunteers participated in 8
cleanups and removed 63,273 pounds of trash from the
Blackstone Valley.
Waste Prevention &
Recycling
- 2008 was our best year yet
for electronics recycling. Blackstone Valley residents
recycled a record 62,500 pounds of electronics, diverting
this e-waste from our landfill and ensuring their
electronics were recycled in an environmentally conscious
manner. Thank you to Green-Tech Assets, who sponsored all of
these events.
- The 2008 Blackstone Valley
Tire Round Up collected over 3,000 tires! Thank you to
Friends of the Blackstone/Blackstone River Watershed Council
who pulled several of these tires out of the river. This
event was sponsored by the Town of Smithfield, Firestone
Complete Auto Care in Pawtucket, Bill’s Auto Parts and
Dunkin Donuts/Dan’s Management.
