Soergel the new Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful Program Coordinator

Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful introduces Emily Soergel, AmeriCorps*VISTA member, as our new Program Coordinator. Formerly from Atlantic Beach, Florida, Emily attended the University of Florida where she graduated Magna cum Laude in 2007 with a B.A. in Anthropology and a focus on the Human-Environment Relationship. Following her move to Rhode Island in January of 2008, Emily worked for The Pawtucket Foundation as the co-coordinator of Pawtucket Proud Day, the Foundation’s annual civic improvement event.

Kristin Zawistowski, Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful Coordinator from 2006-2008, is now the Clean City Coordinator for the City of Newport. We wish her the best of luck, and know that her time here at Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful has prepared her for her new job.

The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council is an official Keep America Beautiful affiliate. We are implementing its goals and principles into the Blackstone Valley by working with cities and towns to understand their specific needs and to create programs that will enhance their landscapes. Litter prevention, beautification, and waste reduction are just a few of the goals and tools we are exploring in our partnership. By expanding a community's networking opportunities, educational materials, and our ability to work with each community as partners, we are able to address their individual needs and help set their goals and the measurement of their efforts.
